In a surprising move that shocked the world of Formula 1, the news that Hamilton will join Ferrari in 2025 caused shockwaves throughout the sport. This monumental decision brings together the greatest driver in the sport with the most iconic team, creating an opportunity to end the career for the driver who earns an impressive $100 million per year.

Undoubtedly, there will be numerous challenges awaiting Hamilton as he embarks on this new chapter. One of the first obstacles he will face is competing against Ferrari’s rising star, Charles Leclerc, also known as the Little Prince. Leclerc is not an easy opponent and will certainly give his new teammate a run for his money. The battles between these two on the qualifying track will surely be captivating to watch.

Another significant challenge for Hamilton will be adapting to life in Maranello, Ferrari’s home. This transition will require immense effort and adjustments on his part. However, when former driver David Coulthard spoke about this reality, he faced criticism and insults from Hamilton’s fanatic fans who fail to understand the complexities of the sport.

During a recent episode of the Fuelling Around podcast, Coulthard shared his thoughts on Hamilton’s move, stating: “I believe he will face a tough challenge, as I mentioned in another podcast I do with Eddie Jordan. But instead of accepting that others may have different opinions, some of Hamilton’s fanatics resort to insults and disparaging comments. It’s disappointing.”

Coulthard continued to defend his point of view, stating: “I welcome different opinions and perspectives, because that is what fuels healthy debates. It is always interesting when fanatic fans call you an idiot simply for suggesting that Hamilton may face difficulties. But I stand by my honest belief that Charles Leclerc will pose a significant challenge to Lewis.

Aside from those directly involved in the business, the news of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari caught everyone by surprise, including Coulthard. “I never imagined that, at 38 years old, he would make such a bold move,” Coulthard added.

“As professionals in the racing world, we understand that signing a contract with a team is like entering into a beautiful marriage, but with divorce papers prepared in advance. Nobody stays with a team forever, whether in football or any other team sport. There is always a final goal,” explained Coulthard.

He also praised Hamilton’s exceptional talent, stating: “I have always been incredibly impressed by Lewis’s speed. He is a clean driver and a winning machine. There is nothing I can say that others have not already observed about his incredible determination to succeed.”

Coulthard, winner of 13 Grand Prix races, shared his honest opinion about the challenges that await Hamilton as he embarks on this new journey with Ferrari.
