Max Verstappen shrugs off Aston Martin rumors as Red Bull loyalty holds firm amid £1 billion speculation

Formula 1’s silly season is in overdrive, and at the center of the latest bombshell rumor is Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Aston Martin.

With whispers of Aston Martin offering Verstappen a staggering $1.2 billion deal, the question isn’t just whether the reigning world champion will leave Red Bull, but rather what happens to Fernando Alonso if he does.

At 43 years old, Alonso has defied time and expectations, proving he’s still among the best on the grid. But in a sport where youth and long-term potential reign supreme, could Verstappen’s potential move leave the two-time world champion without a seat in 2026?

Aston Martin’s Dream: Verstappen and Newey in Green?

The Silverstone-based team has been aggressively expanding its ambitions, backed by billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll, who is determined to turn Aston Martin into a title-winning force.

With Adrian Newey rumored to be on the move, it’s no surprise that Aston Martin is targeting Verstappen as the ultimate prize.

A $1.2 billion offer? It’s unheard of—but in the unpredictable world of F1, stranger things have happened.

And that’s where things get tricky for Alonso.

Would Verstappen Push Alonso Out?

While nothing is confirmed, Alonso has reason to be concerned.

Here’s why:

1️⃣ Lance Stroll isn’t going anywhere. His father owns the team, meaning Alonso would be the first driver sacrificed if Aston Martin signs Verstappen.
2️⃣ Other top teams have no room. Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren already have long-term driver plans that don’t include a 43-year-old Alonso.
3️⃣ Red Bull wouldn’t be interested. If Verstappen leaves, Red Bull will likely look toward younger talent, not a short-term solution like Alonso.

That leaves few options for the Spanish legend.

Where Could Alonso Go If Aston Martin Drops Him?

If Alonso is left without an F1 seat, he’d have limited—but intriguing—choices:

🏎️ Cadillac or Audi? While both are new projects in need of experienced hands, does Alonso really want to build another team from scratch at this stage of his career?

🏎️ Hypercar Racing? With the World Endurance Championship (WEC) booming, Alonso could transition into Aston Martin’s Hypercar program—or even return to Le Mans, where he’s already a two-time winner.

🏎️ Retirement? Highly unlikely. Alonso has repeatedly stated he has no plans to stop racing anytime soon.

What’s Next for Alonso?

For now, Alonso remains focused on Aston Martin’s 2025 campaign, hoping to deliver a championship challenge before the sport’s massive regulation shift in 2026.

But make no mistake—Formula 1 is ruthless.

If Verstappen really is considering the $1.2 billion Aston Martin offer, Alonso’s future in F1 could be hanging by a thread.

And in the world of Fernando Alonso, nothing is ever set in stone.
