There’s been a buzz in the racing world as Britain’s Lando Norris drops a tantalizing hint about his potential future transfer to Ferrari. In a recent interview, Norris hinted that he knows exactly which team he would like to join if he ever parts ways with his current team, McLaren.

McLaren, which last year clinched its first Constructors’ Championship in more than a quarter of a century, is leading the pack as the favorite for the F1 2025 titles. Their latest model, the MCL39, has been touted as a ‘title challenger’ even before its first track debut. It passed the pre-season test in Bahrain with flying colors, showcasing its speed and reliability.

According to PlanetF1.com’s predictions for the F1 2025 season, McLaren leads the race, with Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari hot on their heels. The Australian Grand Prix, which opens the season next weekend, will see Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time World Champion, debut from Ferrari, marking his transition from Mercedes during the winter break.

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, a fulfillment of his lifelong dream, makes him the first British driver to race full-time for Ferrari since Eddie Irvine in 1999. History bears witness to the prowess of British drivers at Ferrari, with two World Championships won by Brits Mike Hawthorn in 1958 and John Surtees in 1964.

Norris, while speaking to NBC News in the US ahead of the F1 2025 season, coyly hinted at a possible move to the team “everyone wants to be part of”. He expressed his current satisfaction with McLaren, the team that introduced him to Formula 1, but his words left the door open for a potential future move.

His comments follow his endorsement of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, revealing that he would probably make the same move if he was in Hamilton’s shoes. He praised the move as a cool step and an amazing story for Hamilton.

Over the past few years, there have been persistent rumors linking Norris to a potential move to Red Bull. Helmut Marko, the long-term advisor of Red Bull, revealed last summer that the team had a contract ready for Norris to join Toro Rosso (now Racing Bulls) in 2019. However, McLaren got wind of this and blocked the deal.

Last spring, it was reported that Norris had at least once rejected the opportunity to join Red Bull, despite being offered a seat alongside Max Verstappen. Norris has repeatedly denied being fearful of competing with Verstappen in equal machinery. He explained that adapting to a new team and challenging one of the world’s best drivers doesn’t happen overnight.

As the racing world eagerly awaits the upcoming F1 2025 season, Norris’s potential move to Ferrari adds an extra layer of intrigue. Whether he continues to blaze trails at McLaren or writes a new chapter with Ferrari, only time will tell.
