The MotoGP rider market in 2025 has been mainly focused on Ducati’s decision regarding Pecco Bagnaia’s teammate, leaving other factories’ plans in the background. However, KTM has recently made some statements that have shaken things up. Despite Brad Binder, KTM’s factory rider, being under contract until 2027, rumors suggest that KTM is eyeing both Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin, who are key players in Ducati’s situation. While this may be just exploratory at this point, Binder’s recent drop in performance and a potential clause in KTM that allows him to be transferred to the Tech3 satellite team could open up opportunities for rider movements. KTM team boss Pit Beirer has also expressed concerns about Jack Miller and Augusto Fernandez’s recent results, indicating that there may be room for rider swaps within the four KTM group bikes.
However, Marquez seems less likely to move to KTM. He has just started his journey with Ducati after spending his entire career at Honda, and switching to KTM would mean more time lost in adapting to a new bike. Additionally, he has expressed willingness to remain in Ducati’s satellite colors as long as he receives the latest machinery. On the other hand, Martin is a different case. If he fails to secure a spot in Ducati’s factory team again, this could completely exclude him from Ducati and open the door for a possible move to KTM. This would bring back a rider who rose through the KTM junior ranks and has a strong connection to the Red Bull Rookies Cup.
With Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martin being young, talented, and determined, a possible rivalry between them at KTM could be incredibly fun to watch. However, there are questions about the risks involved and whether KTM would be willing to move Binder to accommodate such a signing. It remains to be seen if Martin would like to join a manufacturer that has not yet proven its ability to win titles. However, KTM’s determination and Martin’s desire for a spot on the factory team make this scenario far from impossible.
