Corrado Provera recently passed away at the age of 82. In life, he became notable at Peugeot, particularly for his work as the director of the World Rally Championship (WRC) program.
The engineer joined the French manufacturer through Formula 1 and the motor project with ProstGP, but after it ended, he moved on to rallying. Between 2000 and 2002, there was widespread success: with the 206 WRC, two driver titles were achieved with Marcus Grönholm and 27 victories.
In 2003, Citroën – from the same corporate group as Peugeot – became champion, and from then on, the Sochaux manufacturer was never able to replicate the results before leaving the WRC after 2005.
Peugeot took to social media to mark Provera’s passing: ‘It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Corrado Provera. His years as director of Peugeot Sport were marked by his charisma and energy. We send our sincere condolences to his family and all who knew him.’
AutoGear expresses sincere and heartfelt condolences to the entire family, friends, and acquaintances of Corrado Provera.
