Smart has revealed Concept #5, which previews the brand’s largest and most spacious model, set to be unveiled on Thursday at the Beijing Auto Show.
The fully electric SUV features a more adventurous stance and will join Smart’s lineup, which includes the #1 and #3 crossovers, and is equipped with a 100 kWh battery that the brand claims will provide a range of up to 550 km. The Concept #5 utilizes an 800-volt electrical architecture that, according to Smart, will allow the battery to be charged from 10 to 80% in about 15 minutes.
With 4.60 meters in length, the #5 promises to be the largest model ever built by Smart and also the one that presents a more adventurous look, with a design that the brand says combines “the distinctive modernity of Smart with an open-minded attitude to offer new perspectives and possibilities”.
The images now revealed of the Concept show that the electric SUV features off-road details, with a robust overall appearance, highlighting generously sized tires, roof-mounted lights, front and rear protection plates, the latter with an incorporated winch, and a foldable step at the rear to facilitate access to the roof.
In the Concept #5’s cabin, two large integrated screens stand out, with OLED technology, which the brand says are powered by a high-performance AMD V2000 chip, allowing ideal access to the vehicle’s numerous functions.
In addition, the interior of this prototype makes use of a front passenger seat with “zero gravity” that the brand claims offers a combination of comfort and safety, integrating features such as heating, ventilation, massage functions, leg support, as well as new airbag solutions, providing high safety in case of collision.
The Smart Concept #5 is also equipped with a virtual assistant with integration of the latest generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), powered by Cerence software. The system allows the driver and passengers to “engage the virtual assistant in fun conversations”.

With this vehicle, we leave behind all boundaries and open up a new segment for customers in Europe and around the world,” stated Dirk Adelmann, CEO of Smart Europe.
Smart has already announced that the production version of #5 is scheduled to be unveiled in the second half of 2024.
