Company Crumbles After Failing to Deliver 1967 Mustang EV!

In a shocking turn of events, the highly anticipated electric reimagining of the iconic 1967 Ford Mustang by Charge Cars has failed to see the light of day. Despite generating much excitement and garnering numerous orders, the company was unable to complete a single car, leaving customers disappointed and empty-handed.

Back in 2022, Charge Cars unveiled their ambitious project at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. The electric Mustang boasted an impressive 536 horsepower and a staggering 1,120 pound-feet of torque, all thanks to its all-wheel-drive system known as 4iWD. With a top speed of 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and a range of 200 miles, it seemed poised to take the automotive world by storm.

The electric Mustang featured a combination of steel and carbon fiber construction, ensuring a lightweight yet sturdy build. Charge Cars also equipped the vehicle with a floor-mounted lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 63 kW, providing ample power for long drives.

Inside, the electric Mustang boasted modern amenities, including a fully digital instrument cluster and a premium sound system. The car’s suspension and brakes were also redesigned for optimal performance, while a sleek LED lighting system added a touch of contemporary elegance.

Ford had even granted Charge Cars a license to create their own shell for the electric classic Mustang, further solidifying the legitimacy of the project. The retro styling paid homage to the original 1967 Mustang, making it a worthy competitor to Dodge’s Charger Daytona.

However, despite all the promises and potential, Charge Cars faced insurmountable obstacles. The company was only planning to produce 499 examples, each fully customizable to the preferences of the customers. However, due to undisclosed reasons, Charge Cars failed to deliver a single car, resulting in the disappointment of those who had placed orders.

The repercussions were severe, as Charge Cars had to let go of all their personnel, totaling approximately 50 employees. The company’s sister company, Arrival, had already filed for bankruptcy earlier in the year, adding to the overall instability.

Despite these setbacks, Charge Cars remains determined to find a way to “get back on track.” The future of the electric Mustang project is uncertain, but enthusiasts and potential customers can only hope that the iconic legend will eventually see the light of day.
