In a thrilling display of speed and skill, Colton Herta dominated the IndyCar practice session on the chilly streets of Detroit. With 27 drivers revving their engines, Herta blazed a trail as the fastest driver, clocking in at 1:10.7823 on the temporary course.

Not far behind was Scott McLaughlin, hot on Herta’s heels, followed closely by Kyle Kirkwood. Callum Ilott also made a mark with the fourth best time, showcasing his team’s prowess in navigating the challenging street circuit.

However, the day was not without its share of drama. Will Power, known for his aggressive driving style, found himself in the midst of some heated moments on the track. Despite his antics, Power managed to steer clear of penalties but ended the day disappointingly in 18th place.

On the other end of the spectrum, Pato O’Ward experienced a heart-stopping moment when he overshot a braking zone, careening into the tire barriers and damaging his front wing. Meanwhile, Josef Newgarden’s session was cut short after a brush with the concrete barriers.

As the drivers gear up for qualifying, tensions are running high, with the knockout session looming large on the horizon at 12:20 PM eastern time. Stay tuned as the battle for pole position heats up on the unforgiving streets of Detroit.
