Colton Herta Set for Thrilling Partial 2026 IMSA Campaign with Cadillac!
In a stunning announcement that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, Colton Herta, the dynamic Formula 1 test driver, is gearing up for an exhilarating partial campaign in the 2026 IMSA SportsCar Championship with none other than Cadillac! This is a major development for both Herta and the American automotive giant as they look to conquer some of the most prestigious endurance races in the world.
Herta, who is also set to juggle his responsibilities in F1 and an F2 season with Hitech, will make his mark at three key IMSA endurance events: the iconic Daytona 24 Hours, the grueling Sebring 12 Hours, and the climactic Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. The 25-year-old racing prodigy will pilot the powerful Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh, sharing the track with experienced full-season drivers Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz in the highly competitive GTP class.
This isn’t Herta’s first rodeo with Wayne Taylor Racing; he previously raced a similar schedule in 2024, driving the Acura ARX-06 LMDh, where he achieved remarkable success, including a triumphant victory at Sebring alongside Taylor and Deletraz. “Super excited to join Cadillac WTR for the endurance rounds next year,” Herta exclaimed. “We had some success last time I was with the team, and I hope to continue that. Jordan and Louis are some of the best drivers in the business, and it’s a pleasure to join them on this adventure.”
Wayne Taylor himself expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted that Colton can join Jordan and Louis in the #40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R for the endurance events. The trio has been a great match and had great success working together in 2024. Our team has so much positivity going into 2026.” This optimistic outlook is backed by Herta’s impressive track record, including his recent stint driving BMW’s M Hybrid V8 LMDh at Daytona in 2023.
The excitement doesn’t end there! Cadillac has also unveiled its complete roster for the 2026 IMSA GTP campaign, ensuring that fans can expect thrilling action across the board. The full-season line-ups for both Wayne Taylor Racing entries and the Action Express Racing car remain unchanged, with Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque continuing in the #10 WTR Cadillac, joined by Will Stevens, who brings experience from the Jota Cadillac squad in the World Endurance Championship. Meanwhile, Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber will spearhead the #31 Action Express V-Series.R, with Frederik Vesti stepping in as the third driver for the five rounds of the IMSA Endurance Cup.
As the racing world eagerly anticipates the gripping 2026 season, all eyes will be on Colton Herta and his ambitious quest for glory with Cadillac. This partnership promises not only to excite fans but also to showcase the incredible talent and potential of Herta as he aims for triumph on the endurance racing stage. The countdown to Daytona is officially on!
