Cleetus McFarland: The YouTube Star Takes a Hard Hit at Bristol – What’s Next for His NASCAR Journey?

In a shocking turn of events, YouTube sensation Cleetus McFarland faced a brutal reality check during his recent race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The charismatic driver, who has captivated millions online, found himself overwhelmed as he competed against seasoned racers in his fourth ARCA Menards Series appearance of the year, piloting the No. 30 vehicle for Rette Jones Racing.

Having previously made waves at iconic tracks like Daytona, Talladega, and Charlotte, McFarland was unprepared for the fierce competition at the half-mile oval. After qualifying in 20th place, he struggled to maintain his position, frequently hovering between 15th and 20th throughout the race. “I got my butt kicked, man,” he admitted candidly. “I think, as far as tracks where the driver’s skills show the most, I found the one out of the four I’ve done because these guys put on a clinic for me.” In a race that saw him finish in 17th place, a staggering seven laps down, McFarland’s experience was a humbling one.

“I’m not excited, I’m not mad, but those dudes in the front, oh my gosh! I don’t have doors, or they’d be blown off because they were so fast,” he continued, reflecting on the intensity of the competition. It’s clear that Bristol has a way of revealing the true talent of drivers, and McFarland learned this lesson the hard way.

Despite the setbacks, the Mooresville-based Rette Jones Racing team is set to continue its partnership with McFarland into the next season. Reports suggest they will embark on a part-time schedule, aiming for eight to ten races in 2026, alongside a handful of Super Late Model events. Fans can expect to see more of McFarland as he seeks to refine his skills and gain experience on the track.

Looking back at his previous races, McFarland’s journey has been anything but smooth. His Daytona debut ended in disaster, where he was caught in multiple wrecks, finishing a disappointing 30th. However, Talladega brought a glimmer of hope, as he managed to salvage a remarkable ninth-place finish, marking his career-best performance to date.

Yet, the drama did not end there. At Charlotte, while battling his way to another solid finish, McFarland found himself in hot water again. During a restart with just 62 laps to go, he lost control of his car after blowing a tire, crashing into fellow competitor Isabella Robusto and sending her careening into the wall. “I want to start out by apologizing to the team that I took out,” he expressed during a post-race interview, acknowledging the chaos his mistake caused. “I just feel terrible. Every time I go racing, I don’t want to get taken out. I’ve felt it. It sucks.”

The incident was a stark reminder of the high stakes in racing, with ten cars sustaining significant damage due to the melee, while McFarland’s vehicle emerged relatively unscathed. As he gears up for next season, one thing is clear: Cleetus McFarland is determined to learn from his mistakes and rise through the ranks of NASCAR.

Will the YouTube star turn his racing career around? Only time will tell, but fans are eager to see if he can transform the lessons learned into victories on the track. Keep your eyes peeled for McFarland’s next moves as he aims for redemption in the competitive world of NASCAR.
