Travis — fresh off of sending Alyssa Milano’s kid’s baseball team to Cooperstown — is doing what he can to help the collective reach 5,000 total members.
He issued his challenge Thursday afternoon on X.
“I hate the NCAA and love Tennessee. The Tennessee Vol collective currently has 3800 members,” Clay wrote. “If y’all take it to 5000 members, I’ll donate $100k to them.”
You read that right, kids. If 1,200 people sign up to be part of the Volunteer Club, Clay is willing to pony up $100,000.
That’s a generous offer. Enough to send Alyssa Milano’s kid’s baseball team to Cooperstown 10 times. And that’s all going to Tennessee’s NIL collective if it hits that 5,000-member plateau.
This offer comes the day after news broke that the states of Tennessee and Virginia had sued the NCAA over its involvement in NIL rules. According to One of the sticking points stems from the inability of student-athletes to enter the transfer portal to discuss NIL opportunities until they enroll at school.
“By restricting NIL discussions for prospective college athletes, the NCAA’s current policy restricts schools from competing to arrange NIL compensation for prospective college athletes and suppresses athletes’ NIL compensation by deterring the free movement of labor.”
This is going to get interesting for sure.
