Citroën chama à oficina cerca de 15 mil veículos em Portugal devido a problemas no airbag

Citroën clarified this Thursday that it called about 15,000 cars, models C3 and DS3, to the workshop due to problems with the airbag, already implemented worldwide since 2020.

“Stellantis is urging owners/responsible of Citroën C3 and DS 3 models, manufactured between 2009 and 2019, located in some regions and countries of Europe and Africa/Middle East, including Portugal, to stop driving these vehicles immediately and access a website, or scan the QR code included in the registered letter sent to the customers involved, to obtain information about the appropriate repair and alternative mobility options available,” Citroën clarified in a statement sent to the media.

The French brand also clarified that “both the repair and the mobility alternative will be provided at no cost to the customers”. The repair is expected to take 2 hours.

In Portugal, the campaign covers about 15,000 cars in circulation – produced between 2009 and 2017, “2500 of which have already been repaired, according to the procedure implemented in our country,” Citroën adds.

The vehicles included in this immediate stop action are equipped with Takata airbag inflators, whose chemical properties can deteriorate over time, especially when consistently exposed to hot and humid weather conditions, as seen in the recall areas.

“With the utmost priority being the safety and well-being of its customers, Citroën, DS, and their authorized repairers are prepared to resolve these cases in the quickest and least disruptive way for customers, and thank you for your understanding”, concludes the statement from the French brand.
