Citroën has revealed to national journalists the new C5 Aircross, which evolves from the new STLA Medium platform but remains true to its design, now featuring new technological resources, more space, and a fully electric version.
With its arrival in the national market expected in the second half of the year, the second generation of the C5 Aircross retains the square silhouette of its predecessor while enhancing aerodynamics in an effort to increase efficiency.

In this way, the front section is characterized by lines that express strength and fluidity. The new Citroën logo stands out in the center, along with a new three-point light signature from the French brand, interpreted with particularly slender horizontal segments that underline the elegance of the front and enhance the vehicle’s width expression.
The Citroën Matrix LED headlights are connected by a discreet band in glossy black. Another distinguishing element that pays attention to detail is the grooves molded into the bumper, which animate a flat surface and refer to the chevron motif of the radiator grille. In the electric version, the front section is completely closed to optimize aerodynamic efficiency.

From the profile view, the sloping roofline stands out, gently inclining just after the second row of seats to optimize aerodynamics while preserving the cabin volume, clearly affirming the family-oriented nature of the new C5 Aircross. Thanks to the STLA Medium platform, the height of the C5 Aircross is maintained at 1.66 m, which helps improve air penetration while enhancing interior space and maintaining a ground clearance of 200 mm.
Finally, deflectors and air intakes have been integrated in various parts of the vehicle to further optimize its aerodynamic performance.
On the other hand, the rear section is characterized by a very vertical tailgate, designed to increase luggage capacity. Thus, the new C5 Aircross measures 4.65 meters in length, which is 150 mm longer than its predecessor, with a wheelbase of 2.78 meters, an increase of 60 mm, with this increase almost entirely dedicated to the legroom of rear passengers to provide more space for those in the second row of seats. In this way, Citroën has utilized the larger interior space to create what it calls the “C-Zen Lounge,” allowing passengers to sit as if they were in a living room.

To create a living room-like environment, the cabin stands out for its use of a spacious, long, and horizontal dashboard, designed as a piece of living room furniture. The lower part of the dashboard is covered with high-quality foam fabric that extends to the door panels and seats, creating a homogeneous and pleasant atmosphere, like a true cocoon.
The warm atmosphere of the cabin is enhanced by the expanded ambient lighting, which offers a choice of eight different colors, once again a novelty for Citroën.
Also noteworthy is the slim floating center console, which features a 13” vertical HD touchscreen infotainment system that Citroën claims is “the largest touchscreen and high-definition display ever offered by a Stellantis brand,” presenting fully customizable sections and permanent sections for quick and easy access to essential functions.

In addition, there is a standard 10” instrument panel with a “mirror screen” function, along with a voice assistant “Hello Citroën” that allows control of some functions of the new C5 Aircross, as well as Advanced Comfort seats with enhanced support in the lumbar and upper areas, aimed at better “fitting” the occupants.
For those traveling in the back seat, there’s plenty of space, as well as the comfort of Citroën Advanced Comfort, which includes a bench seat and backs equipped with high-quality foam. The backs can be reclined between 21° and 33° for an ideal posture, especially on long journeys. In higher trim levels, the rear seats are heated.

Also noteworthy is a storage compartment with two cup holders, storage spaces for small items in the central armrest and in the door compartments, along with a trunk that has a capacity of 651 liters, which can expand to 1668 liters with the rear seats folded down. Additionally, the 100% electric version benefits from a “frunk” with an extra 75 liters of storage capacity.
In terms of technology, the C5 Aircross is truly a step ahead of its predecessor, benefiting from the latest generation of driving and parking assistance systems from the French brand, featuring six cameras and five radars with a range of up to 75 meters. Furthermore, the Drive Assist 2.0 package offers comfort and safety, allowing for Level 2 autonomous driving.

In terms of powertrains, the new generation of the C5 Aircross introduces a fully electric variant available in two versions. The Standard Range version produces 210 hp with a 73 kWh battery and claims a range of up to 520 km. The Extended Range version produces 230 hp and features a 97 kWh battery, allowing for an announced range of up to 680 km.
The electric variant of the C5 Aircross comes standard with an 11 kW three-phase charger, and starting in 2026, it will be able to receive an optional 22 kW bidirectional three-phase charger for ultra-fast charging, enabling it to recover up to 160 km of range in just ten minutes.
The 73 kWh battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in 6 hours and 45 minutes using a 7.4 kW single-phase wallbox, 4 hours and 30 minutes with an 11 kW three-phase wallbox, and 30 minutes at a 160 kW ultra-fast charging terminal.

For the version equipped with the 97 kWh battery, charging on a 7.4 kW single-phase wallbox takes 8 hours and 55 minutes, and 6 hours and 30 minutes on an 11 kW three-phase wallbox. At a 160 kW ultra-fast charging terminal, the charging time is 27 minutes.
In addition to the electric version, it strengthens its multi-energy strategy with two hybrid versions of the C5 Aircross. The Hybrid 145, the entry-level version, combines a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine that generates 136 hp with a 12 hp (9 kW – peak of 28 hp / 21 kW) synchronous permanent magnet electric motor powered by a 0.9 kWh battery located under the driver’s seat. The electric motor is directly integrated into the new 6-speed eDCS dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The management of the two engines is fully automatic and transparent to the driver. During low-speed acceleration, the electric motor supports the combustion engine. At constant speeds, both engines work together to optimize fuel consumption. In the city and during maneuvers, the new C5 Aircross Hybrid 145 automatic can operate in 100% electric mode if the battery charge level allows it. The battery recharges automatically during deceleration.
The Plug-in Hybrid version of the C5 Aircross combines a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 150 hp with a 125 hp electric motor, powered by a 21 kWh battery located under the floor in the center of the vehicle, allowing for a combined power of 195 hp. The electric motor is integrated into the new 7-speed eDCS dual-clutch automatic transmission and provides an electric range of 100 km in the city.

Citroën has not revealed the prices of the new C5 Aircross, which will only happen in June when the brand starts taking reservation orders. What is certain is that the arrival of the new SUV from the French brand, aimed at the C segment, will take place in the second half of 2025.
