After the C5 Aircross, Citroën has expanded the 48-volt hybrid technology to the C4 and the C4 X Hybrid, which joins the already available petrol, diesel, and 100% electric variants.

Without associated charging needs, and capable of providing a reduction of about 20% in consumption and emissions, the new engine uses a system composed of a 48V battery, a new generation 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder petrol engine with 136 hp and a maximum torque of 230 Nm, which is coupled to a new electrified dual-clutch gearbox ë-DCS6, which integrates a ë-Motor electric motor with 28 hp of power and 55 Nm of torque, which ensures the electric operation of the C4 and C4 X for low torque needs, at low speeds, during maneuvers or deceleration, and assists the internal combustion engine during startup. It also functions as a charging generator for the 48V lithium-ion battery, with an available capacity of 432 Wh, which is installed under the left front seat, during deceleration phases, while simultaneously reducing brake wear.

Citroën announces that the C4 and C4 X Hybrid 136 can be driven in 100% electric mode in urban areas, on smooth roads, or during maneuvers. In the city, this hybrid version can perform up to 50% of journeys completely electrically, without emissions or vibrations.
In addition, the 48V Hybrid technology optimizes performance and fuel consumption, allowing for an average fuel saving of 1 liter/100 km compared to the PureTech 130 EAT8 petrol engine.

In Portugal, this Hybrid 136 version is available from €28,725 euros for the C4 and €29,315 euros for the C4 X (prices valid until March 31).
