Chrysler, a brand of the Stellantis Group, is recalling 250,651 vehicles in the U.S. due to a problem with the side curtain airbag having inadequate sealing, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The announced recall affects the Pacifica and Voyager minivan models produced between 2022 and 2025. The airbag in question is affected by insufficient pressure retention, which according to the NHTSA increases the risk of inflation and causing injuries during an accident.
The note from the U.S. road safety agency also adds that Chrysler dealers will inspect and replace the side curtain airbags at no cost.
Stellantis, in a statement, said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the airbag defect and urged customers to follow the recall instructions.
It is worth noting that last week Stellantis saw Citroën request the immediate halt for repairs of all C3 and DS3 models in Europe still equipped with Takata airbags, following a new death in France related to the defective equipment.
The measure covers the recall of 441,000 Citroën C3 and DS3 vehicles equipped with potentially defective Takata airbags, regardless of the year of production, in Belgium and Germany, including an additional 82,000 in France, where Citroën has already requested the halt of the vehicles affected by this issue.
