Christopher Bell’s Triumph: Atlanta Motor Speedway Transforms into EchoPark Speedway Under New Ownership

NASCAR Cup Series driver Christopher Bell is introduced before the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn., Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Atlanta Motor Speedway, the iconic racing venue, has undergone a massive transformation and is now known as EchoPark Speedway. The renaming comes as part of a lucrative deal with EchoPark Automotive, marking a significant shift in the landscape of NASCAR sponsorships.

The 65-year-old Atlanta Motor Speedway, previously Atlanta International Raceway, has now embraced the EchoPark name following the acquisition of naming rights by EchoPark Automotive, a used car dealership under the Sonic Automotive umbrella. This move, essentially transferring funds within the Smith family who owns both EchoPark Automotive and Speedway Motorsports, has stirred a mix of excitement and controversy among fans and racing enthusiasts.

EchoPark’s presence in NASCAR has been growing, with sponsorships at various SMI-run facilities and events. The renaming of Atlanta Motor Speedway to EchoPark Speedway signifies a new chapter in the venue’s history, promising a heightened fan experience and a fresh take on Southern hospitality in the world of motorsports.

The rebranding efforts extend beyond just the name, with the track’s walls now proudly sporting EchoPark’s signature green color scheme, replacing the traditional red, white, and blue pattern. Additionally, winners of races at EchoPark Speedway, starting with the Quaker State 400, will be rewarded with a “nearly new” Chevrolet Silverado, aligning with the offerings of EchoPark Automotive.

While some fans may lament the shift towards corporate sponsorships in the racing world, it is a common practice in the realm of sports and entertainment. NASCAR circuits, traditionally resistant to full-scale renaming, are now following suit with venues like EchoPark Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway embracing corporate partnerships.

As the motorsports landscape continues to evolve, EchoPark Speedway stands as a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation in the racing industry. The seven-year partnership between EchoPark Automotive and Speedway Motorsports signals a new era for the venue, promising unparalleled experiences for fans and drivers alike.

In a world where change is inevitable, EchoPark Speedway emerges as a beacon of transformation, reshaping the narrative of racing history and setting the stage for a thrilling future in NASCAR.
