Christian Horner’s shocking F1 return sparks chaos at Alpine: Flavio Briatore’s power under threat

Christian Horner’s F1 Comeback: A Storm Brewing at Alpine as Flavio Briatore Seethes!

In an electrifying turn of events that could reshape the landscape of Formula 1, whispers of Christian Horner’s potential return to the sport have reached a fever pitch. The Red Bull Racing mastermind is reportedly eyeing a 24% stake in Alpine, currently held by Otro Capital—a consortium that boasts celebrity investors like Ryan Reynolds and Anthony Joshua. But hold on tight, because Flavio Briatore, the de facto team principal of Alpine, is said to be far from pleased with this unfolding drama.

At a recent launch event for Alpine’s 2026 car, Briatore confirmed the swirling rumors regarding Horner’s negotiations to join the Enstone-based team. The backdrop to this high-stakes power play is nothing short of tumultuous. Alpine has endured a rocky ride in recent years, culminating in a dismal last-place finish in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship. With leadership instability plaguing the team, Horner’s two-decade tenure at Red Bull makes him an enticing candidate to lead Alpine into a promising new era.

However, the dynamics are anything but simple. Ralf Schumacher, the former F1 driver turned pundit, has raised eyebrows by suggesting that Briatore’s apparent cordiality with Horner may not be as harmonious as it seems. Speaking on Sky Germany’s Backstage Boxengasse, Schumacher revealed that the decision about Horner’s future is already “decided,” with a timeline suggesting his return could materialize by mid to late next year.

Schumacher elaborated, “There are reasons for this, because Mercedes are new to the team and, obviously, Toto Wolff and Christian Horner aren’t exactly the best of friends. They want to get settled in at Alpine first and then think about making changes.” The tension is palpable, and the stakes are high. As Horner seeks a substantial role within Alpine, Briatore’s grip on power may be challenged—a scenario that he undoubtedly dreads.

The former Renault chief is known for his commanding presence and has ruled over Alpine with an iron fist. Any hint of shared authority could send shockwaves through the team’s hierarchy. “Obviously, he won’t be happy that Christian Horner wants to play a role, wants to be the owner, wants to be on site,” Schumacher warned. The implication is clear: a clash of titans may be on the horizon, as Briatore fights to maintain his dominance in a rapidly changing environment.

As the world of Formula 1 braces itself for what could be a seismic shift, fans and insiders alike are left to wonder: Will Horner’s arrival signal a new dawn for Alpine, or will it spark an all-out power struggle that could engulf the team in chaos? The coming months promise to be filled with intrigue, as the F1 community watches this saga unfold with bated breath. Buckle up, because the race for power in Formula 1 is about to get a whole lot more thrilling!
