Christian Horner’s Next Move: A Power Play for Team Ownership in F1!

In a shocking turn of events that has sent ripples through the Formula 1 world, Christian Horner, the legendary team principal of Red Bull Racing, has been unceremoniously sidelined after an astonishing two-decade reign. But this isn’t the end of the road for Horner; instead, it’s just the beginning of a thrilling new chapter that could see him step into the coveted role of team owner!

Robert Doornbos, a former F1 driver and now a keen observer of the sport, has boldly proclaimed that Horner’s tenure was missing just one key element: ownership. With a staggering record that includes six Constructors’ Championships and eight Drivers’ Championships – triumphs shared between the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen – Horner’s legacy is undeniable. But now, as he faces a gardening leave following his departure from Red Bull, the question on everyone’s lips is: what’s next for this titan of motorsport?

Horner’s exit has paved the way for Laurent Mekies, who has taken the reins as chief executive and team principal. Yet, whispers in the paddock suggest that Horner is not done yet. According to Doornbos, it’s only a matter of time before Horner makes a dramatic return to the F1 scene, and when he does, it’s likely to be as a part-owner of a team.

The speculation doesn’t stop there. Doornbos highlighted the allure of ownership, akin to what Toto Wolff enjoys with Mercedes. “That was the only thing missing,” he stated, pointing out that Horner’s unrivaled experience of over 20 years in the sport positions him perfectly for such a role. With only a handful of teams open to ownership stakes, the possibilities are tantalizing.

Could Alpine be the answer? Doornbos suggests that a troubled team might soon be looking for a savior, and who better than Horner to step in and turn the tide? “Christian might say: ‘I like that kind of project, I’ll take it on and I want shares, then we’ll make it a great success again,’” he remarked, hinting at Horner’s innate ability to revive struggling teams.

Interestingly, earlier this season, Ferrari had shown interest in Horner before he parted ways with Red Bull. However, with Fred Vasseur’s recent contract extension, that door has seemingly closed. Doornbos, however, believes that Horner’s attachment to England will keep him from relocating to Maranello, regardless of the allure of Ferrari.

As the dust settles on his departure from Red Bull, one thing is certain: Christian Horner is not finished with Formula 1. “I think we’ll see Christian back in a few years,” Doornbos confidently predicts. The road to that comeback may involve negotiations for his exit from Red Bull, but fans should prepare for the return of one of F1’s most formidable figures.

With all eyes on Horner, the motorsport community is left to wonder: where will he land next? Whether it’s steering a new team to glory or making a splash in an ownership role, one thing is clear – Christian Horner is poised for a sensational return that will redefine the landscape of Formula 1!
