The motorsport world is abuzz as Lewis Hamilton prepares for his first season with Scuderia Ferrari, following a stunning move that shocked fans and pundits alike. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has weighed in on the blockbuster transfer, expressing confidence that the seven-time world champion could rediscover his winning form with the iconic Italian team.

A fresh start after a rocky season

Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes comes after a challenging 2024 season in which he struggled to adapt to the ground-effect era. The British driver faced persistent difficulties in qualifying and even reportedly contemplated retirement mid-season. Now, at 40 years old, Hamilton embarks on a new chapter with Ferrari, chasing the resurgence that Horner believes is within his reach.

“He may well have another resurgence in him,” Horner said. “He’s an emotional guy. I think it really depends on how things kick off for him at Ferrari.”

Hunger and motivation still intact

Despite Hamilton’s age, Horner sees no signs of the Briton losing his edge. Labeling him a “class competitor,” the Red Bull boss highlighted Hamilton’s enduring hunger and drive to succeed. Horner emphasized that a change in environment—paired with the legendary allure of Ferrari—could reignite Hamilton’s passion and performance.

“Even though he’s getting older in age, it depends on if that hunger and motivation is going to be rejuvenated by a new challenge and new surroundings in Ferrari,” Horner added.

A pivotal partnership with high stakes

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is arguably the most significant storyline heading into the 2025 season. The Tifosi are eager to see the British superstar don the iconic red suit, but Horner cautioned that the partnership’s success hinges on its early momentum.

“The expectations are massive,” Horner said. “If things start slowly, it could be tough for both sides. But if they get it right, it could be something very special.”

The road ahead

Hamilton’s debut season with Ferrari is set to be one of the most scrutinized campaigns in recent F1 history. While the Briton’s remarkable career is already cemented, a championship victory with Ferrari—arguably the sport’s most prestigious team—would elevate his legacy to unparalleled heights.

For now, all eyes are on the season opener in Melbourne, where Hamilton and Ferrari will begin their quest to reclaim glory. With Christian Horner’s endorsement and Hamilton’s undeniable talent, the partnership has all the makings of a historic comeback story—if the stars align.
