Red Bull Racing Shocker: Horner Ousted After 20 Years of Dominance

In a monumental shift that has rocked the world of Formula 1, Christian Horner has been unceremoniously removed from his position as team principal and CEO of Red Bull Racing. After an incredible tenure spanning over two decades, the era of Horner at the Milton Keynes-based team has come to an abrupt end.

The bombshell announcement was made official by Red Bull Racing, confirming earlier speculations that had sent shockwaves through the racing community. In a statement, the team declared, “Red Bull has relieved Christian Horner of his operational duties effective today, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, and has appointed Laurent Mekies as the new CEO of Red Bull Racing.”

A spokesperson for the team expressed gratitude towards Horner, acknowledging his exceptional contributions over the past 20 years. “With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise, and innovative thinking, he played a pivotal role in transforming Red Bull Racing into one of the most successful and captivating teams in Formula 1. Thank you for everything, Christian; you will forever remain an integral part of our team’s history.”

Horner’s legacy at Red Bull Racing boasts an impressive record, including 8 drivers’ championships, 6 constructors’ championships, and a total of 124 victories, 107 pole positions, and 287 podium finishes. His departure marks the end of an illustrious chapter in the team’s storied history, leaving fans and pundits alike reeling from the news of his sudden exit.
