Chris Buescher reflects on dramatic contact with Tyler Reddick: ‘It’s just racing

In a thrilling showdown at the Darlington Raceway, RFK Racing's Chris Buescher found himself embroiled in a controversial late-race incident with 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick, but instead of pointing fingers, Buescher took the high road in a post-race interview. “It’s just racing,” he stated, reflecting on the tense moment that sent his car slamming into the wall and effectively derailed what could have been a spectacular victory.

The drama unfolded during the critical third stage of the race when Reddick, seemingly unaware that Buescher was slowing down to pit, made contact with the #17 Ford. Reddick later expressed regret, claiming he didn't see the RFK driver signaling his move to the pits. Buescher, however, kept his cool, revealing, “I’m not sure if the call came late. There’s no reason for me to be frustrated.” His perspective was clear: the race was fiercely competitive, and such incidents are an inherent part of the sport.

Despite the setback, Buescher was far from defeated. He praised his team's performance throughout the day, highlighting their speed and strategic improvements. “We were really fast today. … It was a big move to set ourselves up to win the race and it didn’t work out,” he said, emphasizing the overall positivity of his day despite finishing ninth and earning 42 points. Buescher’s resolve shines through as he reflects on the race with optimism, stating, “Clearly didn’t go the way we wanted, but fantastic day overall.”

Meanwhile, Tyler Reddick celebrated a significant victory, marking his fourth win of the 2026 season. The excitement didn’t stop there; 23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan, the NBA legend, also weighed in on the race, showering praise on Reddick's performance. “Tyler drove his a** off,” he remarked, acknowledging the fierce competition and the hard-fought nature of the race. Jordan expressed sympathy for teammate Bubba Wallace, who had a rollercoaster day, finishing eighth after a valiant effort.

Reddick's triumph was a nail-biter, crossing the finish line with a razor-thin margin of just 0.164 seconds ahead of Chase Briscoe from Joe Gibbs Racing. As the racing world continues to buzz about the implications of the Darlington race, one thing is clear: the tension, the drama, and the unyielding spirit of competition are what make NASCAR racing a captivating spectacle for fans everywhere. As Buescher and Reddick both look forward, the stakes are higher than ever—will they seize their next opportunity to shine? Only time will tell!
