After BYD, it is now the turn of the Chinese automaker GAC to invest in the Brazilian market, announcing the launch of its hybrid and electric models in that market and plans to move forward with the construction of a factory by the end of 2026.
According to “Reuters,” GAC’s decision comes at a time when the sixth largest automotive market in the world is experiencing high demand for electric vehicles, and where brands like BYD and Chery are already present.
GAC is presenting itself in Brazil with four electric models and one hybrid, and expects sales to reach 100,000 units in the next five years, according to GAC International President Wei Haigang. “Brazil is a huge and very important country for us”, he said in an interview with the Chinese press.
It is worth noting that according to data from the National Federation of Vehicle Distribution of Brazil (Fenabrave), electrified vehicles represent the fastest-growing segment in the Brazilian market, with sales up 37.4% in the first four months of 2025, totaling 70,450 units, while sales of passenger vehicles in general increased by 3.4%, reaching 714,800 units.
