China is accelerating its journey towards electric mobility, and the Chinese Ministry of Finance announced this Monday a guideline stating that at least 30% of vehicles purchased for public use must be electric or hybrid.
According to the state television “CCTV“, with the new regulation, government procurement agencies must prioritize the purchase of these vehicles, as long as they meet the necessary functional and operational requirements.
The ministry also adds that for situations where vehicles have fixed routes, such as those intended for confidential communication services or primarily operating in urban areas, only electric models should be acquired.
Furthermore, in the case of contracting car rental services, government agencies must prioritize the use of electric vehicles.
The decision now revealed is a clear attempt to promote electric vehicles, reduce pollution in Chinese cities, and boost the new energy sector.
It is worth noting that recent data indicates that electric vehicle sales are expected to surpass those of internal combustion engine cars in China for the first time in 2025, according to industry data.
