Chiefs Quarterback’s Father Arrested for DWI Ahead of Super Bowl
As the Kansas City Chiefs gear up for the Super Bowl, the father of quarterback Patrick Mahomes has found himself in legal trouble. Patrick L. Mahomes was recently arrested in Tyler, Texas on suspicion of “driving while intoxicated, third or more,” according to online records. Currently, he remains in jail with a $10,000 surety bond.
This is not the first time Mahomes Sr. has faced a DWI charge. In November 2018, he had his second DWI charge and paid a $5,000 cash bond. He pleaded guilty and served 40 days in county jail, completing his sentence on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.
Despite the arrest, Mahomes Sr. is expected to be in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl along with Mahomes’ mother, Randi Martin, and the rest of the family. Randi, who divorced Mahomes Sr. in 2006, shares two sons with him, Patrick and Jackson. Additionally, Mahomes Sr. has a daughter named Zoe from a previous relationship.
Patrick Mahomes Sr. has been vocal about his pride in his son’s achievements. After the Chiefs’ victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game, he expressed his excitement and gratitude to reporters, stating that going back to another Super Bowl was beyond anyone’s expectations. He even boldly proclaimed that they were not stopping at back-to-back appearances, but aiming for three, and then setting their sights on four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine Super Bowls.
Despite the legal troubles, Mahomes Sr. remains a supportive and proud father of his superstar son.
In a recent interview on Mad Dog Sports Radio, Mahomes Sr. shared his thoughts on his son’s viral “Dad bod” image. The quarterback, who is 28 years old, called out the NFL for sharing a video of his shirtless locker room speech. Taking to X, Mahomes Jr. jokingly expressed his frustration, saying, “Yoooo why they have to do me like that!?!?!? 🤣🤣🤣 #DadBodSZN.” He also pointed out, “Like I got kids!!!!”
While Mahomes Sr. found the situation amusing, he also defended his son’s physique, emphasizing that people underestimate Patrick’s strength. He explained that Patrick has been working hard with his trainer since fourth grade and that his body is unique, not resembling that of a receiver, but more like his father’s.
In an unrelated event, Mahomes Sr. has had the opportunity to get to know Taylor Swift, who is dating Travis Kelce. After attending 12 Chiefs games this season, Mahomes Sr. has grown close to Taylor, who is also close with his daughter-in-law, Brittany Mahomes. In an interview with Starcade Media, Mahomes Sr. spoke highly of Taylor, describing her as down to earth. He shared an encounter where he introduced himself to her and she recognized him from the Netflix show “Quarterback.” Mahomes Sr. praised Taylor for her genuineness, mentioning that she took pictures with him, his wife, and his daughter Zoe, and acted like a normal person whenever they hung out.
