The Chery Group, a Chinese giant that began its expansion in the European Union with the Omoda and Jaecoo brands in Spain, has just announced its new expansion plans in the European market.
Jaecoo is one of the newest brands of the Chery Automobile Group. It arrived in Europe in 2024 alongside its sister brand, Omoda, having been created in 2023 as a division focused on a more active lifestyle.
The Chery Group’s strategy involves expanding into two of the largest markets in the European Union, Germany and France, along with the market in the Netherlands.
The arrival in these three new markets will take place starting in September, with the two brands of the Chinese group arriving in the Netherlands in September, while entry into the most important market in Europe, Germany, will happen only in October, after the presentation at the Munich Motor Show. The French market will receive the Omoda and Jaecoo models before the end of the year.
The confirmation of the Chery Group’s European expansion plans was made by Jeff Zhang, CEO of Chery for the European region, during an interview with “Motor1.”
It is worth noting that Omoda currently offers the Omoda 5 in the Spanish market, which provides two engine options, one gasoline and one 100% electric. The Omoda 9, a hybrid SUV with 537 hp, will soon also include the Omoda 3 and Omoda 7.
The Jaecoo range consists of the 5, which offers two versions, one gasoline and one fully electric, along with the Jaecoo 7 and 8, two plug-in hybrid models.
Although there is no importer yet defined for Portugal, it is likely that Jaecoo and Omoda will enter the national market by the end of 2025.
