🔴 “I Had to Take My Shot!” – Elliott Gambles Under Pressure to Win in The Madhouse

NASCAR fans know there’s no love lost between Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin—and after the 2025 Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray, their rivalry just got a fresh dose of fuel.

Elliott secured a statement victory, overcoming Hamlin’s relentless challenge and a late-race gamble to capture his first-ever Clash trophy. But while Elliott celebrated, Hamlin was left scratching his head, admitting he “lost the juice” as the race went on.

🏁 How did Elliott steal the win from Hamlin? Let’s break it down.

Elliott vs. Hamlin: A Rivalry Rekindled

This wasn’t just another battle for the win—it was personal.

🔥 The History

  • 2017: Hamlin wrecks Elliott at Martinsville, costing him a shot at the Championship 4.
  • Elliott retaliates at Phoenix, dumping Hamlin into the wall and eliminating him.
  • Since then, their rivalry cooled—until Bowman Gray brought the heat back.

💥 Sunday night, they went to war again—but this time, Elliott came out on top.

The Turning Point: Elliott’s All-Or-Nothing Move

🔹 Elliott led the first half of the race but felt Hamlin and Reddick closing in.
🔹 If he lost the lead, he feared he’d never get it back.
🔹 During the halfway break, crew chief Alan Gustafson made key adjustments.
🔹 Elliott decided to gamble—either take control or risk losing everything.

💬 Elliott’s post-race revelation:
“Honestly, felt like there at the end of the first hundred that Denny and Tyler had gotten better than us. Was kind of afraid if we lost control, it was going to be hard to get it back.”

“I felt like I needed to take my shot and try to get the lead. If it worked out, great. If Denny got me back, then so be it.”

🚨 It worked—Elliott reclaimed the lead and never looked back.

Hamlin’s Fade: “I Lost the Juice”

Hamlin had the speed early, leading 28 laps and putting pressure on Elliott. But as the race went on, his car faded—leaving him to settle for third place behind Elliott and Ryan Blaney.

💬 Hamlin’s frustration:
“It’s just as it goes on, it just seems like I lose a little bit of the juice that I had. I felt like in the first half I could just kind of maneuver anywhere I wanted to go.”

Despite starting in prime position on Row 2, Hamlin’s shot at defending his Clash title slipped away.

❓ Is Hamlin’s fading performance a sign of bigger struggles at Joe Gibbs Racing?

Elliott Makes History: A Family Legacy Secured

🏆 This win was more than just a trophy for Elliott—it was history.
✅ First Clash win of his career.
✅ Became the 26th driver to win the iconic preseason race.
✅ Joined his father, Bill Elliott, who won the Clash in 1987.

With the Daytona 500 looming, can Elliott carry this momentum into the biggest race of the year?

The Verdict: A Sign of Things to Come?

🔥 Elliott is back in championship form.
🔥 Hamlin showed early speed but faded late—cause for concern?
🔥 Their rivalry is alive again—will this battle carry into the season?

📢 What do you think? Was this just a one-off battle, or are we in for an Elliott vs. Hamlin war all season long?
