Chase Elliott shares his strategy for maintaining mental agility.
Chase Elliott, the well-known driver from Hendrick Motorsports, has a large following among longtime NASCAR enthusiasts. His popularity is largely due to his father, a former Cup champion and winner of the prestigious Most Popular Driver award. With racing in his blood, Elliott began his professional career while still in high school.
Elliott made the decision to focus exclusively on racing and completed his studies in the second semester of high school. However, he missed the intellectual stimulation that came with education. To fill this void, Elliott began learning and eventually started flying planes. Flying in his $1.8 million private jet became an additional challenge that he missed when he left school and gave up college.
Elliott has already proven that his choice to prioritize his career was the right one. In a short amount of time, he has become one of the greatest of all time in the sport, earning a spot on the top 75 list. At just 28 years old, he has already won 18 Cup races and has many more years ahead to achieve even more success.
The Next-Gen era has faced challenges with poor races on short tracks, largely due to traffic and limited passing opportunities. However, the recent race at Bristol showed that implementing higher tire wear layers can solve this issue. Chase Elliott believes this is the right direction for NASCAR to follow.
Currently, Elliott’s focus is on the upcoming race at COTA. He has not yet broken his winless streak this season and has not achieved a top-5 finish. Given his experience on short tracks, COTA presents the perfect opportunity for him to regain momentum and get back to his winning ways.
