Hendrick Motorsports’ star driver Chase Elliott is gearing up for the final stretch of the NASCAR Cup Series postseason, exuding confidence as he prepares for the Round of 8. After a challenging 2023 season, marred by a tibia injury that sidelined him for much of the year, the 2020 Cup Series champion has made a remarkable comeback in 2024, and now he’s just one step away from competing for another title.
Elliott’s consistent performances throughout the season, highlighted by a win at Texas, have propelled him into the Round of 8, despite being winless in the second round of the playoffs. At the Charlotte Roval, Elliott delivered a solid P5 finish, maximizing stage points and keeping his championship hopes alive. His performance helped all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers advance to the Round of 8—a feat that Elliott didn’t overlook.
“Really proud of our group for fighting through,” Elliott said after the race. “For us to have positioned ourselves where we did at the end of those stages and get back to fifth. I mean, it’s not a win, but I was pretty proud of that effort and result after the day we had. We just had to take the points.”
The Round of 12 proved to be a battle for Elliott, but he embraced the challenge, knowing that every driver in the Round of 8 has the potential to reach the Championship-4. As the competition heats up, Elliott is ready to face the pressure head-on.
“This whole round has been an uphill battle, but it’s been fun, and I’m glad to be moving on,” Elliott said. “I think you get to the Round of 8, and really, it’s anybody’s ball game. So, I’m ready to get going.”
The confidence within Hendrick Motorsports has been palpable throughout the season. Elliott praised the organization’s collective efforts, emphasizing that the team has been working tirelessly to give all four HMS drivers the best possible cars to compete at the highest level.
“Everybody’s been doing a great job all year. I feel like everybody’s paddling the ship in the same direction, and it shows,” Elliott said proudly. “I’m proud of everybody at Hendrick Motorsports—top to bottom. There’s a lot of effort that goes into it, and achieving like that…I’m really proud.”
As Elliott looks ahead to the upcoming races, he’s counting on his team to continue providing him with the competitive edge needed to secure a spot in the Championship-4. With a renewed sense of purpose and strong support from Hendrick Motorsports, the former champion seems poised for another deep playoff run.
The question now is whether Elliott can translate that confidence into another title shot. With the field narrowing and the pressure mounting, all eyes will be on him and his HMS teammates as they charge toward the ultimate goal—winning the NASCAR Cup Series championship.
