Shocked Chase Briscoe Steps Into NASCAR’s Big League with JGR: ‘It’s Mind-Blowing What They Have’

Chase Briscoe’s switch from Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) to Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) marks a significant turning point in his NASCAR career. Known as a Ford loyalist throughout his time in ARCA, Trucks, Xfinity, and the Cup Series, Briscoe is now embracing a new chapter with Toyota’s premier Cup Series team. The transition is already proving to be an eye-opener, as Briscoe dives into the state-of-the-art resources JGR offers—resources he admits he was missing during his time at SHR.

A Tale of Two Teams

Briscoe’s four-year stint with SHR yielded just two victories in the No. 14 car. The once-dominant team, famous for Kevin Harvick’s reign with the No. 4 car, has struggled to adapt to the Next Gen era, seeing a steep decline in competitiveness. Briscoe’s move to JGR underscores a stark contrast in team dynamics, infrastructure, and strategy.

“It’s just eye-opening, truthfully, how much they have at their disposal,” Briscoe shared on MRN’s NASCAR Live. “Not only from a team standpoint but for the drivers. The data they have to look at is just, truthfully, mind-blowing.”

During his visits to the JGR shop, Briscoe has been impressed by its cutting-edge facilities, including an aerodynamic lab, simulation setups, and comprehensive driver development programs fueled by data analytics. The resources at JGR stand in stark contrast to what he had at SHR, leaving the 29-year-old eager to explore his new team’s full potential.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time over there, typically two to three days a week,” Briscoe said. “It’s super exciting to see all the pieces they have in place.”

Anticipation Builds for the No. 19 Car

Briscoe replaces Martin Truex Jr., whose retirement closed a celebrated chapter in JGR’s history. The announcement, accelerated by Christopher Bell’s unintentional leak, has left Briscoe itching to finally get behind the wheel of the No. 19 Toyota Camry.

“I’m looking forward to finally getting in the car,” Briscoe admitted. “We’ve been talking about it and doing all these things in preparation since June when I signed. Now, I’m dying to climb behind the wheel and get started.”

JGR’s Edge in the Next Gen Era

Joe Gibbs Racing has been a dominant force in cracking the Next Gen code, with Christopher Bell making consecutive Championship 4 appearances. With Briscoe’s arrival, the team gains a driver hungry to harness JGR’s superior resources and data-driven approach.

“The difference in preparation and tools here at JGR is incredible,” Briscoe emphasized. “It’s about more than just showing up to race—it’s about constant growth.”

What’s Next for Briscoe?

With pre-season testing on the horizon, Briscoe is set to experience the fruits of JGR’s meticulous preparation firsthand. As he takes the reins of the No. 19 car, the NASCAR world will watch closely to see if Briscoe can translate JGR’s unparalleled resources into success on the track.

For Briscoe, 2025 isn’t just a new season—it’s a proving ground, a chance to rewrite his story with one of NASCAR’s most iconic teams.
