The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season marks a pivotal moment in Chase Briscoe’s career as he steps into the No. 19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), one of the most prestigious teams in NASCAR. This is a dream come true for the Indiana native, but with it comes a tidal wave of pressure—pressure that Briscoe openly admits will be the most intense he’s ever faced.

“A Career-Defining Opportunity”

After years of proving his mettle in lesser-funded teams, Briscoe now finds himself in a championship-caliber car, replacing a retired champion. It’s an opportunity that could elevate him to NASCAR’s elite or expose him to the harsh glare of unmet expectations. Reflecting on the challenge ahead, Briscoe is both pragmatic and energized.

“I love the pressure side, but I do think this is probably the most pressure I’ve ever been under in my life, as far as professionally,” Briscoe admitted. “It’s weird because there’s been other times where my career was literally going to be over, right?”

Briscoe’s journey to JGR wasn’t without its struggles, as he faced a near-career-ending situation earlier in the season. Now, he’s determined to prove his worth at a team where mediocrity simply isn’t an option.

“No Room for Excuses at JGR”

At JGR, the expectations are crystal clear: win races, compete for championships, and deliver results every single week. For Briscoe, this is a stark contrast to his time at Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), where success was more of a pleasant surprise than a mandate.

“At SHR, we weren’t expected to win. If you won, awesome, that was great. But you weren’t expected to win week in and week out,” Briscoe said. “At JGR, you are expected to be up front every single weekend. So, from that standpoint, it’s going to be totally different than anything I’ve really had in my career.”

Briscoe recognizes that his new role leaves no room for excuses. The No. 19 car is a proven winner, and any failure to deliver will be squarely on his shoulders.

“This is one of those opportunities where if you don’t perform, there’s no excuses,” he said. “You have to perform at JGR.”

“A New Chapter for the No. 19 Team”

Briscoe’s arrival at JGR represents a fresh start for the No. 19 team, which has a legacy of success under its previous driver. The move to a powerhouse team puts Briscoe in uncharted territory but also gives him the tools he’s long dreamed of having. The 2025 season will test his ability to handle the weight of expectations and translate that pressure into performance.

For Briscoe, this is not just about meeting JGR’s lofty standards; it’s about setting new ones for himself. “The expectations are different, but I’m ready to embrace it,” he said.

“What’s Next for Briscoe and JGR?”

As the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series looms, all eyes will be on Chase Briscoe and the No. 19 team. Can he rise to the occasion and become a regular contender at the front of the field? Or will the immense pressure prove too much for the former Xfinity Series champion?

What’s clear is that Briscoe is not shying away from the challenge. His resolve, combined with JGR’s resources and expertise, could make for a breakout year—or a defining moment in his NASCAR journey.
