After a rocky midseason, Ferrari appears to be on the upswing with Charles Leclerc’s stunning win at Monza and a pole position in Azerbaijan, followed by a strong second-place finish behind McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. As the team heads to Singapore—a circuit where they have traditionally thrived—Leclerc is hopeful that the new upgrade package will help maintain Ferrari’s momentum.
Despite being just 30 points behind Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship and 50 points adrift of leaders McLaren, Leclerc insists that Ferrari isn’t getting carried away with championship ambitions.
“Not at all! We don’t think of it at all,” Leclerc stated when asked about Ferrari’s title hopes. “We are just focusing race by race, trying to maximize the potential of the car every race that we do. We’ve done a good job since the summer break, so we need to keep that trend. The season is still long, with three Sprint races still to go, so there are a lot of points available. We can’t relax or start overthinking strategies; we just have to keep pushing.”
Leclerc praised Ferrari’s recent improvements, particularly after a string of failed midseason upgrades that saw them lose pace. The team’s turnaround, according to Leclerc, has been pivotal in staying competitive.
“We are bringing a small upgrade this weekend, which I hope will help us for the rest of the season,” Leclerc continued. “Our focus isn’t on titles or end results but on the process itself, and that’s what’s driving us forward.”
Teammate Carlos Sainz, who famously won the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix with a tactical masterclass, is equally optimistic about Ferrari’s prospects. He acknowledged Ferrari’s midseason struggles but believes the team’s current trajectory shows promise.
“The positive thing is we are within reach,” Sainz said. “Even after a tough middle part of the season where our upgrades didn’t work out and we fell behind, now it seems like we’re back on pace. But we need to prove that on circuits where Ferrari hasn’t been strong historically, like Austin or Sao Paulo.”
Sainz expressed confidence ahead of Singapore and other upcoming races like Las Vegas but remained cautious about Ferrari’s championship chances, emphasizing the need to evaluate their performance across a variety of tracks.
“I think we can be quick in Singapore and even in Las Vegas,” Sainz added. “But to understand if we’re in the fight for the World Championship, we need to see how we perform on more challenging circuits.”
Ferrari’s focus remains clear: stay competitive, maximize every opportunity, and keep the pressure on Red Bull and McLaren. While the title may not be the immediate target, the Scuderia’s resurgence has put them back in the conversation, with every race now a crucial test of their revival.
