Racing Sensation: Is Charles Leclerc Ready to Leave Ferrari for a New Challenge?

Rumors are swirling in the Formula 1 world as former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner suggests that Charles Leclerc may need to seek a new challenge outside of Ferrari. With Ferrari facing a disappointing start to the F1 2025 season, Steiner draws parallels to Lewis Hamilton’s move from Mercedes to Ferrari as a potential inspiration for Leclerc to make a change.

Despite Ferrari’s strong performance last season, the team has struggled in 2025, with only one podium finish in the first seven races, leaving them in fourth place in the Constructors’ standings, far behind McLaren. Both Leclerc and Hamilton failed to make it to the final Q3 stage in the latest race at Imola, leading to Leclerc expressing his frustration with the team’s lack of performance.

Steiner, speaking on the Red Flags podcast, suggested that Leclerc, a product of the Ferrari Driver Academy, should consider leaving the team for a new opportunity. Acknowledging that Leclerc has been with Ferrari since 2019 and has secured eight grand prix wins during his tenure, Steiner emphasized the importance of embracing change for continued growth and success.

While acknowledging the potential benefits of a new challenge, Steiner also cautioned Leclerc about the risks involved in switching teams, citing the example of Fernando Alonso, who struggled to add to his championship tally after leaving Renault for stints with McLaren, Ferrari, and Renault. Alonso recently signed with Aston Martin after a storied career in F1.

As speculation mounts about Leclerc’s future in Ferrari, the young driver may face a pivotal decision that could shape the trajectory of his career in Formula 1. Will he follow in the footsteps of Hamilton and seek a new challenge, or will he stay with Ferrari in hopes of turning their performance around? Only time will tell if Leclerc is ready to take the leap towards a new chapter in his racing journey.
