Charles Leclerc: “Focused on Work” to Recover from Disappointing Canadian GP

Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari driver, is on a mission to bounce back from his disappointing performance at the Canadian Grand Prix. Despite finishing in P5, Leclerc expressed his frustration with the team’s strategy calls during the race, labeling the weekend as far from perfect. The Monegasque driver was left unsatisfied with his own performance, citing missed opportunities and errors that hindered his race.

Leclerc’s troubles began early in the weekend during the practice sessions in Montreal. A crash in FP1 resulted in chassis damage, forcing him to miss the second practice session. Despite showing promising pace in the opening practice, Leclerc’s qualifying session did not go as planned. A mistake during his final flying lap saw him finishing in P8, far from where he believed he could have been – fighting for pole position.

Team boss Fred Vasseur addressed Leclerc’s concerns about the strategy, admitting that attempting a 50-lap stint on one set of tires was overly optimistic. Vasseur acknowledged that the team may have miscalculated the risks involved, especially when trailing behind other cars. Leclerc, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of focusing on the team’s work rather than proving critics wrong, amidst speculation about Vasseur’s future at Ferrari.

Looking ahead, Leclerc remains determined to turn the situation around in the upcoming races. Despite the setbacks faced in Canada, he is focused on delivering his best performance and maximizing the team’s potential. With the disappointment of the Canadian Grand Prix behind him, Leclerc is gearing up for a comeback and aiming to showcase his true capabilities on the track.
