Ferrari Drops Leclerc for Rookie Sensation Ahead of Austrian Grand Prix

In a shocking turn of events, Ferrari has decided to bench their star driver, Charles Leclerc, for a rookie sensation ahead of the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix. The Formula 1 world is buzzing with speculation as 21-year-old Dino Beganovic gears up to take Leclerc’s place in FP1.

Leclerc, alongside his new teammate Lewis Hamilton, has faced a series of disappointments this season, failing to secure any race victories for the struggling Ferrari team. Despite Leclerc currently leading Hamilton by 25 points in the drivers’ standings, the decision to replace him with Beganovic has raised eyebrows across the paddock.

The move comes as part of Ferrari’s strategy to meet the requirement of fielding rookie drivers in their cars multiple times this season. This shift in lineup is a bold move by the Italian team, especially considering Leclerc’s absence during a significant portion of Friday practice at the Canadian GP due to a dramatic crash.

Who is Dino Beganovic? The young talent has been a member of the prestigious Ferrari Driver Academy since 2020 and made his mark earlier this year during FP1 at the Bahrain GP. Currently competing in F2 with Hitech Racing, Beganovic has shown promise by securing two podium finishes this season and holding the 10th spot in the drivers’ standings.

Having claimed victory in the Formula Regional European championship in 2022 and impressing in F3 with Prema Racing in the following years, Beganovic’s rise in the motorsport world has been nothing short of remarkable. His debut outing in F1 earlier this year saw him finish 14th in FP1, establishing himself as one of the standout rookies on the grid.

As the Austrian Grand Prix draws near, all eyes will be on Beganovic as he steps into Leclerc’s shoes for FP1. Will the rookie sensation deliver a performance that puts him on the map and leaves Ferrari reeling from their decision to sideline their star driver? Only time will tell in this high-stakes game of Formula 1 musical chairs.
