Charles Leclerc Nightmare: Ferrari Star Faces Last-Place Start After Abu Dhabi Double Disaster

Charles Leclerc’s 2024 Formula 1 season ended in heartbreak and controversy as the Ferrari ace suffered a disastrous qualifying session at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Monegasque driver, initially poised for a strong showing, was handed a brutal one-two punch that will see him start Sunday’s race dead last.

Leclerc lit up the timing screens in Q2, posting a lap that initially put him at the top of the charts. But jubilation turned to devastation when stewards ruled that he exceeded track limits at Turn 1, deleting his blistering lap and leaving him stranded in 14th place.

As if that weren’t enough, Leclerc’s weekend woes deepened with a 10-place grid penalty for a battery pack change—a costly mechanical setback that sealed his fate at the back of the grid.

A Season Finale to Forget

For Ferrari fans, the drama is yet another bitter pill in a season defined by near-misses and misfortune. Leclerc, a perennial front-runner, will now face the daunting challenge of fighting his way through the field from the very back, relying on strategy, speed, and a bit of luck to salvage any points in the season’s final race.

“I gave it everything in qualifying, but mistakes at this level are costly, and the penalty just compounds the frustration,” Leclerc admitted post-session, his disappointment evident. “We’ll do everything we can to turn this around tomorrow.”

What’s Next?

Leclerc’s challenge at Yas Marina sets the stage for a thrilling battle, but the odds are stacked against him. With overtaking notoriously difficult at the circuit and Ferrari’s strategic missteps often under scrutiny, Leclerc will need a heroic drive to end 2024 on a high note.

As Sunday’s race looms, one thing is certain: all eyes will be on the Ferrari star as he attempts to claw his way back into contention from the depths of the grid. Stay tuned—this showdown is bound to be a dramatic end to an unforgettable season.
