Ferrari began the season closely trailing Red Bull in terms of speed. Both teams managed to secure a few podium finishes. However, as the season progressed, McLaren and Mercedes presented formidable challenges for the Prancing Horses. They provided stiff competition for Leclerc and Sainz, ultimately preventing them from achieving podium finishes. Leclerc, aged 26, admitted that they did not anticipate the season unfolding in this manner.

Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment with Ferrari’s unexpected current position. He stressed that they did not foresee ending up where they are now when the season commenced. Leclerc explained that predicting outcomes with these cars is difficult. Nevertheless, they did not anticipate finding themselves in this situation. However, the 26-year-old acknowledges the areas in which they need to improve. The Scuderia appeared prepared for a potential championship battle. Ferrari is aware of the specific areas they need to focus on after the summer break.

Charles Leclerc stated that the team is doing everything within their power to improve their current situation. He emphasized their full commitment to making progress and their dedicated efforts to rectify the challenges they face. Leclerc made it clear that everyone at Ferrari is focused on regaining a stronger position. He and Carlos Sainz remain optimistic and will continue to strive for success in the second phase of the season.

Even before the season commenced, Charles Leclerc did not ponder over the quality of their current position. Ferrari’s sole focus was on extracting the best performance from their drivers and cars, without setting lofty or pessimistic expectations. The 26-year-old acknowledged that claiming they expected more would be disingenuous, as they always prioritized their own progress over specific outcomes. Therefore, the Maranello-based team did not anticipate dropping from second to third position in the Constructors’ Championship during the first half of the season.

Leclerc and Sainz have 10 more rounds to regain the lead from McLaren and Red Bull. Given McLaren’s pace and improvement, it will be challenging for Ferrari, but not insurmountable if they implement changes and work diligently. Fans are hopeful that they will perform well in the upcoming races, considering their rivals’ increased competitiveness compared to the beginning of the season.
