In a move that was already expected, Charles Leclerc has renewed with Ferrari beyond 2024. The contract was set to expire at the end of the upcoming Formula 1 season, but it seemed to be just a matter of time until the continuity was made official – which happened this Thursday. The specific duration was not revealed.
Since 2016, the Monegasque has been in Maranello, starting in the Ferrari Driver Academy. His debut in the premier category was in 2018, after winning the Formula 2 championship the previous year, spending only one season with Sauber before making the leap to Ferrari.
He is currently the second driver with the most pole positions for the Scuderia, tied with Niki Lauda and only behind Michael Schumacher, in addition to having achieved 30 podium finishes and five victories. His best result in the championship was second place in 2022.
