The team made a promise last week with a teaser before revealing the special design for Round 6 of the 2024 F1 World Championship. This round will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium, which is the home of the Miami Dolphins American football team.

In a press release ahead of the Miami GP weekend, Ferrari announced a major change. They revealed that HP will be their title partner for the upcoming seasons. As a result, the team will now compete in Grands Prix under the name Scuderia Ferrari HP. This partnership extends beyond Formula 1 and includes support for the Maranello young driver program and the Esports team.

Regarding the addition of blue to their traditionally red color scheme, Ferrari explained that it perfectly complements the theme chosen for the Miami week. They decided to bring back two colors from the past, Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino. Only this weekend, these colors will be featured on both SF-24s. The blue tones will be seen on various parts of the car, including wings, engine cover, halo, mirrors, race numbers, and wheel rims.

The Media Team also highlighted the historical importance of blue. They mentioned the 158 F1, which was driven by John Surtees when he won the world title in North America sixty years ago. The Miami livery also pays tribute to the single-seaters and sports cars entered by Ferrari’s American importer, Luigi Chinetti, under the N.A.R.T. (North American Racing Team) banner. These cars included the iconic blue and white 158 F1 driven by Surtees, as well as red Ferraris with dark blue stripes. Additionally, blue was also present on Ferraris entered in sports car races in the 1960s by the British importer, Maranello Concessionaires.

The vibrant shade of blue known as Azzurro Dino, which was once a favorite among iconic Scuderia drivers like Niki Lauda, Arturo Merzario, and Clay Regazzoni, is set to make a comeback in Miami. In 1974, Regazzoni became the last driver to wear a racing suit in this distinctive color. Over time, this shade also made its way into mechanic shirts and suits, eventually becoming the norm from the 1970s to the early 1980s.

However, from 1975 onwards, various shades of red took over as the dominant color in drivers’ suits, with touches of white symbolizing the sponsorship of Philip Morris International that began in 1973 and continues to this day. However, in Miami, the usual red will give way to Azzurro La Plata for the drivers throughout the weekend, while most of the team will wear this color only on Sunday. The pitstop mechanics, in compliance with regulations, will be dressed in fireproof suits in the vibrant shade of Azzurro Dino.

Furthermore, both Leclerc and Sainz will also showcase these revived Ferrari colors off the track. Each of them will be seen driving customized Ferrari 296 GTS Assetto Fiorano sports cars, specially designed for the series of major events taking place in the United States.

Expressing his excitement, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur stated: “The upcoming Miami Grand Prix will be a historic occasion for our team as we pay tribute to our heritage through a unique livery that reintroduces two colors that hold significance in our history. Additionally, this race will be particularly special as we warmly welcome our new title partner, HP.”

Vasseur emphasized the shared values between Scuderia Ferrari and HP, including a winning mentality and a commitment to technological innovation. Both entities strive for excellence and recognize the importance of empowering their teams to achieve remarkable results. Vasseur also highlighted the importance of nurturing talent, as demonstrated by the Ferrari Driver Academy.

With these similarities in mind, Vasseur believes that the title partnership with HP will greatly benefit both brands. He looks forward to the start of their collaboration this weekend.
