Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) and Cadillac will end their partnership at the end of the 2024 seasons of the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. CGR first joined forces with the General Motors manufacturer in the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech season during the DPi era, with a Cadillac DPi-V.R. This collaboration continued in the LMDh era, which started last year, allowing for the participation of two Cadillacs – one in IMSA and the other in WEC, thanks to the convergence of the LMDh formula eligible in both championships.
Although drivers #01, Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande, secured a GTP victory last year at Laguna Seca, their WEC-based colleagues in Germany have not yet achieved a victory in the world championship. Their highest positions were third and fourth places at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the blue WEC car #2 crossing the finish line ahead of the yellow IMSA competitor #3. However, Action Express Racing managed to claim the inaugural GTP title and also emerged victorious at Petit Le Mans last year.
It is believed that CGR and Cadillac had a three-year contract starting in 2022, but it was not renewed beyond 2024.
