CATL, the world’s largest manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles, after announcing its intention to expand into Europe battery swapping stations, has now announced that it has begun construction of a battery factory in Indonesia.
According to “Bloomberg,” the project for the new factory is the result of a joint venture between the Chinese company CATL, Indonesia’s state battery company, Indonesia Battery Corp, and PT Aneka Tambang, with an investment of USD$ 6 billion.
The new factory will have a capacity of 15 GWh, capable of supplying batteries for 250,000 to 300,000 vehicles, as announced by Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, at the inauguration ceremony that took place on Sunday.
