CATL, the world leader in electric vehicle battery production, has now announced that it has entered the autonomous mobility sector, with the creation of a joint venture that will develop a robotaxi.
The new entity, Shanghai Zaofu Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., which brings together CATL, Hello, and Ant Group, was registered in Shanghai this Monday, June 23, and will develop a secure application and commercialize Level 4 autonomous driving technology.
The formalization of the joint venture comes after the announcement of the partnership between the three companies at the beginning of the year, and a strategic cooperation agreement among the three parties signed in April 2025 in Hangzhou.
The agreement defines a collaboration that leverages the technological advantages and resources of each company to jointly develop autonomous driving technology, enhance safety and reliability, and promote its commercial application.
