Carson Hocevar, the budding star of NASCAR, has recently found himself in the limelight. Following his career-high second-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway in his Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, Hocevar has been the talk of the town. Notably, his on-track maneuvers sparked conversations among fellow racers, including his mentor, Ross Chastain, and Ryan Blaney, who both sought to have a word with him after the race.

The young racer also caught the attention of Kyle Busch who voiced his frustration over Hocevar’s on-track actions. Despite this, Hocevar seemed unfazed, relishing in the attention following his impressive finish. He said, “I’ve enjoyed the moment of just being a second-place finisher in Cup. Other than the conversations you saw, everything else in my world has been positive.”

While Hocevar’s aggressive racing style raised some eyebrows, he remained unapologetic about his tactics. He was notably involved in an incident with Ryan Blaney, where he tagged him with 27 laps to go, leading to Blaney spinning out in Turn 1. Hocevar also made a bold move by squeezing between Chastain and Bell on the backstretch, and then again in the final lap, pushing Bell clear of Kyle Larson as he eyed the lead.

Despite the criticisms, Hocevar remained unrepentant about his racing style. He stated, “I’m not going to apologize for having a shot to win the race and seeing a trophy. The apology I gave to Hendrick (Motorsports) and Chevy was that I didn’t see the replay — and I was apologizing for the circumstances that the yellow came out.”

The rising star also acknowledged the value of feedback from experienced drivers like Blaney and Chastain, admitting that there’s always room for learning. However, he was quick to add that he wouldn’t compromise his aggressive style, saying, “This car rewards being aggressive.”

Hocevar did express regret for the incident with Blaney, admitting to a misjudgment on his part. Nevertheless, he maintained his stance on his racing style, suggesting that it’s the price to pay when you’re the new guy trying to make a name for yourself in the big leagues.

In the end, Hocevar’s goal remains clear. He wants to win races, and he’s not afraid to ruffle a few feathers along the way. With a firm belief in his aggressive style and a hunger for victory, Hocevar is undeniably a rising star to watch in the world of NASCAR.
