The Hispano Suiza presented this Friday the Carmen Sagrera, the third model of the company’s range of electric hypercars, which is released to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the brand, and pays homage to Hispano Suiza’s roots in the neighborhood of the same name, in Barcelona, an area recognized for its industrial activity in 1911, where the company installed its first major factory, coinciding with an increase in production.

The new Sagrera is equipped with 4 motors of 275 hp, which provides a combined power of 1100 hp, and a torque of 1160 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. The motors are permanent magnet and axial flow, connected in series: two on the left side, and two on the right.

Powering the four electric motors is a new 103 kWh battery, developed and manufactured 100% at Hispano Suiza’s facilities in Montmeló, Barcelona, which is equipped with new next-generation lithium-ion cell packs: in total, it has 15 modules of 24 cells, for a total of 360, which the brand claims to have an improvement in energy density, as it allows for more energy to be stored in the same volume, resulting in a range of 480 km in the WLTP cycle.

The power of the Sagrera is transmitted to the rear axle, which has a virtual limited-slip differential, to achieve maximum performance and effectively transmit the massive amount of torque available to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.

The suspensions adopted on both axles are of the deformable parallelogram type, with shock absorbers that allow for adjustable compression and extension settings, and adjustable helical springs for firmness and height. All complemented by a stabilizer bar that connects both sides. On the other hand, the braking system is equipped with 400mm carbon-ceramic discs on both axles.

In terms of design, the new Sagrera features a front section marked by a grille, more pointed, which pays homage to the front sections of some Hispano Suiza Alfonso XIII, a luxury sports car from the early 20th century. The hood air vents give the model a more fluid style, in line with the rear, a change that according to the brand, is not only aesthetic, but also functional. The new side skirts rise along the sides and the rear panel.

On the other hand, the rear stands out for the large stork wing-shaped spoiler, in homage to the characteristic symbol of Hispano Suiza. This spoiler is divided into two pieces, optimizing the aerodynamic shape of the wings, to which a also generous diffuser is added.

In the cabin, the highlight is the redesigned central console and infotainment system, in tune with the brand’s color palette. The upholstery is in Alcantara and displays black and red leather details.

“With the Sagrera, we consolidate the Carmen range, born in 2019, with all its style. We are very proud of what we have achieved in just 5 years. 2024 is the year of acceleration, in which we will conquer key markets for us, such as the US market, we will conclude European homologation, and, naturally, it is a year to celebrate our legacy,” said Sergio Martínez Campos, CEO of Hispano Suiza.

It is already known that the new Carmen Sagrera will be presented to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK in mid-July.
