Alex Albon Challenges Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari Habits: “Can They Boost Williams?”
Formula 1 driver Alex Albon is not shying away from the debate surrounding his teammate Carlos Sainz potentially needing to unlearn habits acquired during his time at Ferrari. Contrary to concerns raised, Albon sees these habits as valuable assets that could benefit their team, Williams.
Addressing the media before the Bahrain Grand Prix, Albon acknowledged the discussion about Sainz’s Ferrari-influenced driving style, emphasizing that these habits could be advantageous. He expressed his curiosity in exploring the incorporation of these techniques into their car, stating, “They’re good habits to have, and it’s trying to see if we can use them in our car.”
While the adaptation process for Sainz continues, Williams finds themselves in an unexpected position, currently occupying fifth place in the constructors’ standings with 19 points, surpassing their total points from the entire 2024 season. Team principal James Vowles expressed confidence in Sainz’s swift adjustment, suggesting that it might not take more than five races for the Spaniard to find his stride within the team.
Vowles highlighted the differences between the driving styles at Ferrari and Williams, noting Sainz’s ability to quickly adapt and find success on the track. With Williams showing promising signs of improvement, Vowles hinted at a potential performance boost in upcoming qualifying sessions.
As the Formula 1 season progresses, all eyes are on Williams as they aim to leverage Sainz’s experience from Ferrari to propel themselves further up the standings. Will Sainz’s habits from his time at Ferrari be the secret weapon that Williams needs to dominate the competition? Only time will tell.
