Carlos Sainz says that his decision to join Audi would be based on more than just his father’s approval of the German automaker.

Carlos Sainz diz que sua decisão de se juntar à Audi seria baseada em mais do que apenas na aprovação de seu pai pela montadora alemã.

Carlos Sainz emphasized that his father’s positive comments about Audi will not be the determining factor in his future in Formula 1. The 29-year-old driver is currently without a team for the 2025 season, after parting ways with Ferrari. Although Audi has shown interest in hiring Sainz, he has not shown much enthusiasm for the German manufacturer for unknown reasons. Sainz is patiently waiting for a better opportunity on the grid.

Sainz was considered one of the top candidates for Audi alongside another driver who has already secured a contract. He was given a two-week ultimatum to confirm his position at Sauber and potentially at Audi. However, Sainz allegedly did not respond to this ultimatum. Speaking about the opportunity at Audi, Sainz acknowledged that his father has a favorable opinion about the German manufacturer, given his racing experience with them in rallying.

Although Sainz’s father’s opinion may be positive, there are several factors that will influence Sainz Jr.’s final decision regarding Audi. The 29-year-old driver hopes to be able to compete for wins with the German team in the future. Despite not having decided whether he will join Audi or not, Sainz wished the team good luck. Therefore, his comments suggest that he may choose not to join the team.

Audi is set to enter Formula 1 for the first time in 2026. Sainz has already expressed his opinions on Volkswagen’s sports projects, as Audi is owned by Volkswagen. He believes that the projects of the German manufacturer have always been successful, whether with Audi or Porsche. This gives the team a strong chance to challenge the top teams for victory.

According to Sainz, these factors are crucial when considering a team’s entry into Formula 1. Despite Sauber’s decline in performance, the arrival of Audi in 2026 could greatly benefit the team. Therefore, Sainz believes it is important to take these factors into consideration.

Although there have been rumors that Sainz could join Red Bull or Mercedes next season, these possibilities are highly conditional and unlikely. It will be exciting to see how Sainz’s future unfolds in the upcoming season.
