Carlos Sainz makes shocking post-race inspection at Las Vegas GP: what was he looking for?

Title: Shocking Behind-the-Scenes Footage: Carlos Sainz Turns Inspector at Las Vegas GP!

In a jaw-dropping revelation from the Las Vegas Grand Prix, untelevised footage has emerged showing Carlos Sainz stepping into the role of inspector after the race, scrutinizing cars belonging to some of the biggest names in Formula 1. This unexpected twist adds a new layer of drama to an already electrifying race weekend!

The Spaniard, who has been on a remarkable upswing with Williams in the latter half of the 2025 season, was seen examining the vehicles of Max Verstappen from Red Bull, Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari, and Lando Norris’s McLaren in the exclusive parc ferme area. This post-race inspection comes on the heels of Sainz’s impressive performance, where he not only secured Williams’ first podium since 2021 by finishing third at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix but also mirrored that success with a similar finish in the United States Grand Prix sprint race.

Sainz’s Las Vegas GP journey took a thrilling turn when he capitalized on a rain-affected qualifying session, securing a third-place start behind Norris and Verstappen. However, race day brought its challenges, with Sainz initially crossing the line in seventh. But fortune smiled upon him as he was later promoted to fifth after the disqualification of McLaren’s Norris and Oscar Piastri due to excessive skid-block wear. This result has fortified Williams’ position in the constructors’ standings, giving them a 31-point cushion over Racing Bulls and setting them on course for their best finish since 2017.

The gripping clip, shared via Formula 1’s social media channels, captures Sainz meticulously inspecting the front ends of these iconic cars. In a moment of pure tension, Hamilton is seen just exiting his Ferrari SF-25 while Sainz makes his way over, highlighting the intense atmosphere in the paddock. Red Bull mechanics scramble to clear the way for Sainz as he approaches Verstappen’s car, parked right by the P1 board, while T-cam footage from Norris’s McLaren captures Sainz as he examines the vacated vehicle in front of the P2 board. Even Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, which finished fourth, did not escape Sainz’s watchful eye.

This kind of post-race inspection isn’t just a casual stroll; it’s a common practice among drivers and team representatives in the cutthroat world of F1. Earlier this season, Adrian Newey from Aston Martin was spotted inspecting the dominant McLaren MCL39 at both Monaco and Silverstone. However, Sainz’s timely inspection came just before the shocking news broke that both Norris and Piastri were under investigation, leading to their eventual disqualification.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella addressed the double disqualification, citing “accidental damage” leading to an “increase of movement of the floor” as the key issue. He lamented the unexpected porpoising both cars experienced during the race—an unforeseen consequence not evident during practice sessions. “During the race, both cars experienced unexpected, high levels of porpoising,” Stella explained, expressing regret over the impact this had on their Championship campaigns. The team has vowed to investigate the causes of this behavior, assuring fans and partners that they remain dedicated to their performance in the final races of the season.

As the F1 world buzzes with excitement over this unforeseen drama, all eyes are now on the upcoming races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Will Carlos Sainz’s inspection change the dynamics of the championship? One thing’s for sure—this season has proven to be full of surprises, and the stakes have never been higher! Stay tuned for more updates as we follow the thrilling journey of Formula 1!
