Carlos Sainz: ‘Olhando para o ritmo, é o resultado máximo que podíamos ter feito’

Carlos Sainz missed out on the podium in the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix. After starting in second, he was quickly overtaken by Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and later couldn’t prevent Lewis Hamilton’s (Mercedes) undercut. All in all, he finished fourth, behind his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc.

In the Spaniard’s understanding, there wasn’t much more to achieve in the Hermanos Rodriguez Autodrome race: ‘It was a long and tough race, having to constantly manage the tires and temperatures. Looking at the pace, I believe the result is the best we could have achieved’.

Furthermore, Sainz also stated: ‘Both starts were a bit chaotic, but we remained composed and stuck to our preferred strategy of making one pit stop, which we opted for before the red flag. In the end, we scored some good points for the team and now we focus on the next race in São Paulo with the Sprint format’.
