Our pace, tire management, communication, and strategy were excellent. However, our overall result suffered due to our performance in qualifying yesterday. Since Australia, we have been struggling to get the tires into the ideal temperature range during the out laps in qualifying, something we never had problems with before. We need to solve this issue in the coming days to ensure that we can put everything together for the race in China.”
The Ferrari team boss, Fred Vasseur, summed up the team’s Japanese weekend, stating: “Today, our team demonstrated a calm and focused approach to achieve our goals. We made significant progress during the winter, and this progress is evident on track. Despite a challenging qualifying session, we had a very solid Sunday and secured the best possible result. However, we need to work on improving our qualifying performance. The team executed flawlessly during the race, from strategy to tire management. Both drivers did an exceptional job managing their respective strategies. With Carlos starting closer to the front, we were able to adopt a more aggressive approach, resulting in a charge to the front and executing several impressive overtakes. Charles, starting in eighth, faced more limitations, but had an excellent first part of the race, allowing us to execute a one-stop strategy and gain several positions. The result clearly shows that there is still room for improvement if we want to challenge Red Bull, and that is our goal starting from the next race in China.”
