Carlos Sainz Expresses Frustration After Unlucky Streak at British Grand Prix

Spanish driver Carlos Sainz expressed his frustration after finishing in 12th place at the British Grand Prix, equating the disappointing result to a retirement. Sainz bemoaned the string of unfortunate events that have plagued the Williams team in recent races, stating, “Always something happens to us that is out of our control.”

During the race at Silverstone, Sainz was in a promising position, contending for eighth place with his former teammate Charles Leclerc. However, a wet track led to Leclerc losing control of his Ferrari and colliding with Sainz’s Williams, causing damage to the car and pushing Sainz down to 12th place.

The frustrated driver remarked, “No, for me at P12 it’s like retiring…especially because we were running P7, P8. We have done everything right.” Sainz highlighted the team’s solid performance and strategic decisions, feeling robbed of a potential top-seven or top-eight finish.

The ongoing streak of misfortune for Williams has been a significant setback after a promising start to the season. Technical issues and retirements have plagued the team, with Sainz failing to start the Austrian Grand Prix due to rear brake issues and his teammate Alex Albon retiring from the race for unspecified reasons.

Looking ahead, Sainz expressed hope for a change in luck during the upcoming break before the next race, emphasizing the need for a turnaround in fortunes to salvage what has been a challenging Formula 1 season for the team.
