Caravana em modo 100% elétrico: Hyundai Staria Camper Concept

Hyundai recently unveiled the electric version of the Staria, a model competing in a category with still limited expression (a share just below 2% in Europe), but which is experiencing very rapid growth on the Old Continent, dominated by the VW ID. Buzz. Now, at an exhibition in Stuttgart, for fans of “tourism on wheels,” the South Korean brand showcased the Camper Concept, a caravan based on this minivan, measuring 5250 mm in length and 3273 mm between axles.

The Staria has been part of Hyundai’s lineup since 2021, but it only had gasoline engines, including hybrids, and diesel options. At the beginning of this month, at the Brussels Motor Show, the Seoul-based manufacturer presented the electric version that it did not plan to produce at the beginning of the decade, allegedly due to limitations in the area of range. The Staria Electric, with front-wheel drive, a motor with 218 hp, and an 84 kWh battery capacity, offers a range of up to 400 km, and fast charging, thanks to the 800 V architecture, in 20 minutes to replenish 10%-80% of the charge.

The Staria Electric, produced in Ulsan, South Korea, is set for commercial launch in the domestic market and in Europe planned for the first half of this year. It is offered in two interior configurations (7 or 9 seats), and with a towing capacity of two tons, allowing travel with boats, caravans, and various equipment specific to leisure activities.

The Camper Concept is based precisely on the Staria Electric and illustrates the significant development potential of Hyundai’s largest electric vehicle offering. “In Europe, the demand for electric or electrified models aimed at recreation and leisure is constantly increasing, as there are more and more enthusiasts of the freedom to travel with above-average comfort and, above all, independently,” states the South Korean brand. This camper van does not have confirmed production, but Hyundai promises to pay attention to the feedback received from visitors to the German event: “Our idea is to listen to people to decide on production,” admitted a source from the manufacturer.
